PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for a p-Si TFT flat panel display having a high low-viscosity characteristic temperature, and manufacturable while avoiding occurrence of an issue of melting tank erosion loss during melting through direct electrical heating; and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Glass has a composition containing 52-78 mass% SiO, 3-25 mass% AlO, 3-15 mass% of BO, 3-20 mass% RO (RO being a total amount of MgO, CaO, SrO and BaO), 0.01-0.8 mass% RO (RO being a total amount of LiO, NaO and KO), and 0-0.3 mass% SbO, wherein AsOis not substantially contained, and a mass ratio CaO/RO is ≥0.65, a mass ratio (SiO+AlO)/BOis in a range of 7-30, and a mass ratio (SiO+AlO)/RO is ≥5. |
