PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treatment of patients suffering from autoimmune diseases such as systemic erythematodes and multiple sclerosis.SOLUTION: Provided is a method that includes: (a) depletion of circulating lymphocytes in a mammal by administering a factor selected from a group consisting of anti-thymus cell antibody, anti-CD52 antibody, and anti-CD3 antibody; (b) causing lymphoid rebuilding to be initiated; and (c) an administration in the (b) rebuilding phase to the mammal of a therapeuticalkly effective amount of latent-form TGF-&bgr;and/or a separate factor, such as dexamethasone and rapamycin, that promotes the growth of regulatory T cel. |
