PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control charge potential to be a target value with higher accuracy at lower costs compared to the case where a potential sensor is attached to an image carrier.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a Zener diode 17 that is connected with a conductive path for grounding an intermediate transfer belt 13a that has constant potential over the entire periphery by application of voltage; an ammeter 18 that measures the size of a current flowing through the Zener diode 17; and a control device 2 that derives, when image formation is performed, charge potential of an image carrier 8 by using the size of a non-charge period current D6 and a charge period current D7, and controls a charging power source 6 to make the derived charge potential close to a target potential that is set in advance. |
