The device has a tool region (22), in which a person-endangering movement occurs. A safety mechanism (1) blocks a machine motion when a person stays in the tool region. Another safety mechanism (2) is provided separate from the former mechanism. The latter mechanism includes a weight-dependant, operator-far kick guard (5), which is arranged in an operator-opposite side tool region (22G). An inner region (3) is surrounded by a protection device (4). A controlling or regulating unit (11) is signal technically connected with the safety mechanisms.
