PURPOSE: A method for setting up the initial temperature of a clutch in a transmission control device is provided to accurately set up the initial temperature of the clutch when an engine restarts, thereby improving the reliability and precision. CONSTITUTION: A method for setting up the initial temperature of a clutch in a transmission control device comprises the steps of: restarting an engine (S1); measuring coolant temperature and outdoor temperature (S2); measuring a difference value between the coolant temperature and the outdoor temperature (S3); comparing the difference value with first and second reference values (S4); dividing a waiting period for setting up the initial temperature of a clutch into a first section, a second section, or a third section (S5); determining the initial temperature of the clutch according to the waiting period (S6); compensating the friction coefficient of the clutch according to the initial temperature of the clutch (S7); and changing the pulse-width modulation (PWM) value of the operation output current of a clutch actuator motor (S8).
