The equipment has a positioning area (26), an illumination device (52) for illuminating food products using a light, and a camera (48) for the reception of images of the illuminated food products. An evaluation device is utilized for processing the illuminated images. The evaluation device (88) recognizes the food products using a color analysis and/or a luminosity analysis of the images that are received by the camera. An independent claim is also included for a method for identification and/or sorting of food products that are packed in a cup.
