PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a substantial increase in the total RS overhead as required to support signal transmission from additional antennas.SOLUTION: To minimize overhead and enable backward compatible operation with legacy systems, RSs from a first set of Node B antennas are transmitted in every transmission time interval substantially over the whole operating bandwidth (BW). RSs from a second set of Node B antennas performing CQI estimation are periodically transmitted substantially over the whole BW, with a transmission period of which UE is informed through broadcast signaling by the Node B and with a starting transmission sub-frame determined from an ID of a cell supported by the Node B. The RSs from the second set of antennas and new RSs from the first set of antennas, which serve for demodulation of information signals, have substantially the same bandwidth as the information signals narrower than the BW. |
