PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can quickly set the size and type of sheets to be used when the sheets are set in a manual feed tray without using an RF-ID reader or a sheet with an RF-ID.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a manual feed tray device on which any sheets can be loaded; a device for detecting the presence or absence of the sheets on the manual feed tray; and a sheet width guide device configured to detect the width of the sheet, wherein a plurality of combinations of sizes and types of sheets are registered. The image forming apparatus further includes: a comparing means configured to, when it is detected that the sheets are loaded on the manual feed tray device, perform comparison whether the sheet size obtained by the sheet width guide device and the registered sheet size agree with each other (503); a setting means configured to, when it is determined that only one size agrees with the registered sheet sizes, set information about the agreeable sheet size and the registered sheet types (504); and a display means configured to, when it is determined that a plurality of sheet sizes agree with the registered sheet sizes, display narrowed-down sheet information (505). |
