PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal and a communication method that enable more efficient communication.SOLUTION: A VoLTE-enabled mobile terminal Mb comprises: a VoLTE-enabled determination unit 2 which determines a communication scheme of an in-zone cell where the mobile terminal is present; a waiting RAT determination unit 4 which determines whether or not the determined communication scheme is a first communication scheme and whether or not a communication environment allows the VoLTE-enabled mobile terminal Mb to cope with the first communication scheme; and a waiting RAT update unit 5 which performs control to set the VoLTE-enabled mobile terminal Mb to a first waiting mode corresponding to the first communication scheme if it has been determined that the communication environment is like the above. The waiting RAT update unit 5 sets the VoLTE-enabled mobile terminal Mb to a second waiting mode if it has not been determined that the communication environment is like the above. |
