PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a cutting method for a belt-like glass using laser light to solve problems arising as the belt-like glass (glass ribbon) shifts in position in a thickness direction.SOLUTION: On a belt-like glass 10, a position restriction region where a movement in its thickness direction is restricted, an irradiated region irradiated with laser light 17, and a cooled region supplied with a refrigerant 18 are set, and an initial crack is extended from the cooled region to form a scribe line by moving the regions in a direction crossing the belt-like glass 10 so that the cooled region follows up the irradiated region and the irradiated region follows up the position restriction region. The position restriction region is formed using, for example, a pressing device 60. The belt-like glass 10 is parted along the scribe line with stress generated as the belt-like glass 10 moves in the thickness direction. |
