Device comprises a container (1) for accommodating a substrate and at least one heating element (3) of a heating device (2) present in the interior of the container. The heating element includes a surface (5), which is covered when adequate amount of substrate is filled in the container or is coverable by the substrate. At least a portion of the surface of the heating element is micro-structured, where the micro-structure (6) is provided with a catalyst layer at least in regions. An independent claim is also included for carrying out the catalytic reaction using the above mentioned device, comprising transferring heat into a substrate by the heating device over the microstructure, where the catalytic layer causes a catalytic effect on the microstructure.
