The arrangement has valve units e.g. manifold valves, including a longitudinal slide valve (120) with a valve slide (1203), which is axially and displaceably mounted in a valve bore (1202). A surface (F) defining a nominal flow rate of the valve units is formed between a control edge (1205) of the valve slide and an inner edge (1206) of the valve bore in an open condition of the longitudinal slide valve. The valve units are provided different from each other by distance of the control edge of the valve slide from the inner edge of the valve bore. An independent claim is also included for a method for designing a valve unit.
