The method involves fixing matrix units (22) on two sides of a press-in section by a sheet metal material, where the sides lie opposite to each other. The matrix units are molded in an adjacent undercut of the press-in section. A stamp or press-in section of functional elements (10) is stamped at a distance of a press-in device into a steel metal piece (18). A reinforcing seam is prepared during and/or after punching of the steel metal piece at the same distance of the press-in device by the functional element in a further process.
