PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spray powder for thermal coating of a substrate with a superferritic thermal spray layer, in particular a brake disk substrate.SOLUTION: Spray powder includes the following chemical composition and additionally includes at most 0.4 wt.% of further chemical elements in total as impurities: up to at most 0.7 wt.% of C; up to at most 0.7 wt.% of Mn; up to at most 0.5 wt.% of Ni; up to at most 1.2 wt.% of Nb; up to at most 0.1 wt.% of P; up to at most 0.1 wt.% of S; up to at most 0.2 wt.% of Si; 20-40 wt.% of Cr; 2.0-6 wt.% of Mo; up to at most 50 wt.% of a ceramic component AlO/ZrO; and Fe as the rest.
