PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element capable of easily depositing a high quality antireflection layer on a translucent base material of an inorganic material.SOLUTION: An optical element includes: an inorganic translucent base material 11; and an organic antireflection layer 12 provided on a principal surface of the translucent base material 11 and including an organic silicon compound, an organic compound including an epoxy group and hollow silica. The translucent base material 11 is covalent bonding with at least one of the organic silicon compound and the organic compound including an epoxy group. As no dust or dirt adhere on the principal surface of the translucent base material 11 at deposition, the organic antireflection layer 12 can be prevented from causing defect. A contact angle of the organic antireflection layer 12 is larger in value than a contact angle of the antireflection layer of the inorganic material, so that a dustproof effect becomes higher than the antireflection layer of the inorganic system, and adhesion of dust or dirt becomes difficult. |
