PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic imaging optical system capable of being reduced in dimension in the direction of an optical axis while improving performance, and an endoscope equipped with the same.SOLUTION: A stereoscopic imaging optical system comprises: a front lens group Gf having a single optical axis; a rear lens group Gr having a single optical axis, arranged on the same axis as the front lens group Gf; a pupil division part 2 disposed between the front lens group Gf and the rear lens group Gr and able to divide a luminous flux; and a deflecting part 3 disposed between the front lens group Gr and the rear lens group Gr and configured to deflect a luminous flux. The pupil division part 2 can be switched between the state of a stereoscopic view close point at which a luminous flux is divided by at least two apertures and the state of a stereoscopic view distant point at which a luminous flux is divided by at least two apertures separated more widely than the state of the stereoscopic view close point.
