PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast iron billet for thixocasting, requiring no complicated temperature control or the like, and capable of being inexpensively produced without relying on continuous casting.SOLUTION: A cast iron billet for thixocasting includes a metal structure having a high carbon deposition phase having a hypoeutectic composition containing, by mass, 2.0-3.0% of C and 1.50-2.50% of Si and made of cementite (FeC) having a network-like distribution in a crystal grain boundary constituting an iron matrix, or the carbon deposition phase and a small amount of graphite having a fine point-like distribution. |
