PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED illumination unit which eliminates the need to provide a large-sized heat sink structure therefore, is miniaturized, is capable of surely achieving satisfactory rendering with illumination, and can be obtained at a low manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: An LED illumination unit 2 includes an LED 21 having a rated power consumption of 0.25 W or more, a drive control unit 22 which controls drive of the LED 21, and a charging/discharging capacitor 23 having a capacitance of 1 mF or more. The LED 21 is lit by using electric charge charged to the charging/discharging capacitor 23 and is lit with a duty ratio of 0.1 or less and an on time of 100 msec or less by the control of the drive control unit 22. |
