PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoelement that smoothly converts volume expansion of a thermally expandable material consisting of paraffin of the thermo-element into linear motion and has good responsiveness and superior durability.SOLUTION: A thermoelement comprises: a casing (1) having a bottom; a thermally expandable material (2) containing paraffin, which fills the casing and expands and contracts by temperature changes; a piston (6) that axially moves; a guide member (5) slidably holding the piston; and a liquid chamber (4) formed between the thermally expandable material (2) and the piston (6) to store a deformable, incompressible fluid. The piston axially moves via the incompressible fluid in the liquid chamber by expansion or contraction of the thermally expandable material. A check valve (9) is provided between the liquid chamber (4) and the outside of the thermoelement; and the check valve permits a flow of the fluid in a direction from the outside of the thermoelement to the liquid chamber (4) and inhibits a flow of the fluid in a direction from the liquid chamber (4) to the outside. |
