This image forming device is provided with: an image reading unit that reads a document loaded onto a document loading platform by a scanning body carrying out moving scanning in a secondary scanning direction; an image forming unit that forms an image on paper of the image read by the image reading unit; a discharge unit that discharges a piece of paper on which the image has been formed by the image forming unit in a direction orthogonal to the secondary scanning direction; and a discharge paper tray, which is provided with an open part, on the lower side of the image reading unit and into which paper coming from the discharge unit is loaded. The surface of the bottom surface of a housing for the image reading unit that faces the discharge paper tray on the front side in the discharge direction of the discharge unit is made a first surface that is higher than the discharge paper tray, and the surface on the back side in the direction of discharge of the discharge unit is made a second surface that is lower than the first surface with respect to the discharge paper tray. Movable wiring, one end of which is fixed to a traction member that moves the scanning body back and forth in the secondary scanning direction and/or to the scanning body, is disposed on the inside of the housing on the upper side of the second surface.
