PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new opiate reduction utilizing a catalytic hydrogen transfer reaction.SOLUTION: An improved opiate synthesis scheme is provided. An improvement to oxidation of oripavine and oripavine derivatives includes in-situ formation of peroxy acid required for oxidizing the oripavine and oripavine derivatives to form an intermediate. An improvement to reduction of the intermediate for forming oxycodone and oxycodone derivatives includes reduction utilizing a hydrogen transfer reagent. These improvements allow the production of oxycodone and oxycodone derivatives without isolation of the intermediate, providing a one-pot synthesis method. |
