To obtain a total heat exchange element which enables the suppression of detachment of a joint with an interval holding member due to deflection of a partition member caused by a change in temperature and humidity and has low ventilation resistance, the present invention is a heat exchange element wherein unit constituent members each provided with a partition member having heat conductivity and moisture permeability, and an interval holding member for holding the partition members at predetermined intervals are stacked, and a primary air current passing along the front surface side of the partition member and a secondary air current passing along the back surface side of the partition member while crossing the primary air current exchange heat and humidity therebetween via the partition member, the heat exchange element being characterized in that the interval holding member is configured by providing a detachment suppression rib on a surface reverse to the interval holding member when viewed from the partition member in a joint portion between the interval holding member and the partition member, and sandwiching the partition member between the interval holding member and the detachment suppression rib.
