PURPOSE: An electric double layer capacitor shortens a distance between the polarities of electrodes and performs low equivalent series resistance (ESR) by arranging a pair of electrodes to face each other to insert one end part or one curved part into one C-shaped groove. CONSTITUTION: An electric double layer structure (12) includes a pair of electrodes (14,15), a separator (13), and a conductive elastic support (17). The pair of electrodes faces each other to insert one end part (14a, 15a) or one curved part of each electrode into one C-shaped groove. The separator is interposed between the pair of electrodes. The conductive elastic support contracts and pressurizes the double layer structure when a cover (16) is installed. A container type package body (11) receives the double layer structure.
