PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a rare earth permanent magnet which makes it possible to arrange a trace of metal included in an organic metal compound at grain boundaries of the magnet concentrically and efficiently, and to reduce an amount of carbon in the magnet; and a method for manufacturing the rare earth permanent magnet.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a permanent magnet 1 comprises the steps of: adding, to impalpable powder into which a neodymium magnet is pulverized, an organic metal compound including Cu, Al, Dy, Tb, Nd, V, Mo, Zr, Ta, Ti, W, Ag, Ga, Co, Bi, Zn, Mg or Nb, and including no oxygen atom nor nitrogen atom, thereby evenly depositing the organic metal compound to the surface of grains of the neodymium magnet; thereafter forming a compact of the resultant powder, and preliminarily sintering the compact by keeping it at a temperature of 200-900°C for several to several ten hours under a hydrogen atmosphere; and subsequently vacuum sintering or pressure sintering the compact. |
