<p>Palladium intermetallic compounds, such as palladium silicides, e.g., PdSi and/or Pd2Si, can be selectively prepared in a two step process including the steps of (1 ) vacuum impregnating silicon with a metal halide comprising a palladium halide, and (2) ball milling the product of step (1 ). A method of preparing organohalosilanes may be performed combining an organohalide having the formula RX, where R is a hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms and X is a halogen atom, with a contact mass comprising at least 2% of the palladium intermetallic compound.</p> |
