PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling the defrosting operation of a boiler are provided to prevent a heat exchanger burning by smoothly circulating high-temperature water in the heat exchanger and preventing the heat exchanger from being overheated. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the defrosting operation of a boiler comprises a defrosting timer (2), a defrosting stop timer (3), a heating thermistor (4), a tapping temperature storage unit (5), a control unit (7), a circulation pump drive unit (8), and a burning unit drive unit (10). The defrosting timer provides the time required for defrosting operation. The defrosting stop timer provides the time required for stopping the defrosting operation. The heating thermistor detects the tapping temperature of heating water supplied from a heat exchanger. The tapping temperature storage unit stores the detected tapping temperature of the heating water. The control unit controls a boiler. The circulation pump drive unit controls the operation of a circulation pump (9) according to the signal outputted from the control unit. The burning unit drive unit controls the operation of a burning unit (11) according to the signal outputted from the control unit.
