PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication system capable of efficiently saving power.SOLUTION: The communication system includes a subscriber side device 10 and a station side device 20. In a power saving mode, the subscriber side device 10 and the station side device 20 alternately repeat a power saving state and an operating state for each predetermined time period. The subscriber side device 10 includes a power saving control unit 12 for transmitting phase information, which is information indicative of the start timing of the power saving state in the own device, to the station side device. The station side device 20 includes: based on the received phase information, a phase control unit 25 for controlling the start timing of the power saving state in the own device in such a manner that a time period in which the own device is in the power saving state coincides with a time period in which the subscriber side device 10 is in the power saving state; and based on the control by the phase control unit 25, a power saving control unit 22 for performing control to alternately repeat the power saving state and the operating state. |
