PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image the distribution of ions in charge of neurological functions, muscle contraction and the like in an organism sample by introducing a sufficient amount of intracellular ion imaging pigment into a biological sample containing a sample derived from an adult that is several weeks or more old.SOLUTION: A method for introducing an intracellular ion imaging pigment into a cell of a biological sample includes a process for dipping the biological sample in a solution containing the intracellular ion imaging pigment within a chamber and a process for incubating the chamber in an oxygen environment. In this method, the chamber includes a flat, hydrophilic bottom member, and sidewall members arranged in a circle so that a reservoir portion capable of retaining liquid is formed on the surface of the bottom member, and the sidewall members each have a hydrophilic inclined face that extends diagonally upward from the surface of the bottom member. An intracellular ion imaging method is provided including a process for detecting fluorescence derived from the intracellular ion imaging pigment in the biological sample into which the intracellular ion imaging pigment has been introduced by the method. |
