This energy management system is provided with a client device and a server device that is capable of communicating with the client device. The server device comprises an acquisition part, a prediction part, a calculation part, and a control part. The acquisition part acquires from the client device data pertaining to the electrical appliances of consumers supplied with electric power from the power grid. The prediction part predicts the energy demand of the electrical appliances on the basis of the acquired data. The calculation part, on the basis of the predicted energy demand, calculates an operating schedule for the electrical appliances that will make it possible to optimize the energy budget of the consumer. The control part, on the basis of the calculated operating schedule, sends to the client device control information for controlling the electrical appliances.
