<p>Embodiments of the present invention relate to an image compression method and device. The method specifically comprises: detecting a network congestion degree of an image transmission network; calculating, according to the network congestion degree, an available transmission rate of the transmission network for transmitting an image; calculating, according to the available transmission rate, a data amount threshold of the transmission network for transmitting a single frame image; and when a data amount of a transmitted image is greater than the data amount threshold of the single frame image, identifying a specific area and a non-specific area of the image, and transmitting the image after compressing the specific area and the non-specific area of the image according to different compression ratios. Therefore, in the method and device disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention, when the data transmission environment is poor, the specific area and the non-specific area of the image are processed separately, thereby improving definition of the specific area of the image received by a user and ensuring certain fluency.</p> |
