The engine (10) has two gear wheels (20, 23) comprising two parallel rotational axes (21, 24) that mesh with one another such that a housing (30) is surrounded by two fluid connectors (11, 12), so that rotating movement of a fluid stream is accommodated between the fluid connectors. The housing comprises two housing portions (50, 52) extending in a plane separating surface (32) abutting each other. The plane separating surface incorporates the rotational axes of two gear wheels. One of the gear wheels comprises a drive shaft that stands out from the housing. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing housing portions of a hydrostatic positive-displacement engine.
