PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel battery having a small body suitable for serving as an electric power source for mobile phones, etc.SOLUTION: A fuel battery at least includes: an air electrode side collector layer; an air electrode catalyst layer; a polymer electrolyte membrane; a fuel electrode catalyst layer; a fuel electrode side collector layer; and a porous body layer in the fluid fuel side of the fuel electrode side collector layer, the porous body layer made of porous having a hydrophobic surface and an adjusted inner-osculum wettability. The porous body layer having a ventilation speed (void tower reference value) at 10 cm/s to 5,000 cm/s when the pressure difference is 100 kPa, forms a gas boundary inside the porous body layer or in the porous body layer lower surface, serves as a fuel diffusion medium to the fuel electrode catalyst layer and also serves as a discharge resistance body against a gas including carbon dioxide, water vapor and fluid fuel vapor generated at progression of electrode reaction. In the progression of electrode reaction, the gas boundary is formed inside the porous body layer or on the porous body layer surface to form a gas layer between the fuel electrode catalyst layer and the porous body layer, and a space layer sealing only the side surface is formed between the porous body layer and the fuel electrode side collector layer. |
