PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slug pan excellent in durability which is a transportation vessel for storing and transporting melted slug such as melted blast furnace slug and converter slug.SOLUTION: A metallic material excellent in heat crack resistance is coated on a part of, at least, an internal surface or an upper edge of the cast steel slug pan. The metallic material has 16 or more of a heat crack resistance index Pdefined as P=&sgr;λ/α×10, (wherein &sgr;: 0.2% yield strength (MPa), λ: thermal conductivity (W.mK), and α: coefficient of linear expansion (×10°C)). Martensitic stainless steel satisfying Pof 16 or more is a desirable metallic material. This suppresses heat cracks generated, improves the durability of the slug pan, decreases the frequency of the welding repairs, and greatly contributes to the reduction of the repair cost. |
