The vehicle door has door main structure that is divided into a wet space (N) and a drying chamber (T) by a partition (3), such that wet area is limited between partition and the door outer panel. An access opening for incorporation of functional elements e.g. window or door lock, is formed in the partition. The access opening is closable with a cover. The cover is provided with a supporting portion (17) which is in contact with an opening edge portion of the access opening in the assembled state. An independent claim is included for method for assembling vehicle door.
