A climbing robot (20) for corrosion monitoring of reinforced concrete structures (10) comprises a robot device (30; 40) adapted to move on an essentially plan or slightly curved concrete surface independent from the orientation of the surface, especially vertically, inclined or upside down, and at least one sensor (50) for detecting properties of the concrete surface (15) the corroding areas of a reinforced concrete structure (10). The sensor comprises a wheel electrode (50; 55) adapted to detect an electrode electrical potential difference between the reinforced concrete structure (10) and a reference electrode (55) of the wheel electrode.
