Addition to 470,565, [Group XX]. {Class 2 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] Cellulose acetate is partially oxidized by treatment at 85 to 90‹F. for four hours with a solution of potassium permanganate acidified with sulphuric acid. The oxidized material is washed, bleached with sulphur dioxide, washed and dried. The oxidation of cellulose acetate propionate and of cellulose ethers is referred to.
