The device (1) has packet series formation tracks (3) for formation of rows of packages that are passed to a transfer station (4). The transfer station comprises a conveyor for transporting the rows of packages. A movable palette wagon (14) is arranged below the transfer station and provided with a retainer for retaining a palette (2) to be loaded. The rows of packages are put downable on the palette from the transfer station. The palette wagon is synchronously movable with the rows of packages or parallel to a conveying direction of the rows of packages in the transfer station. The conveyor is designed as a conveying belt (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for laying series of packages on a palette.
