<p>A medical applicator for use in female sterilization of a fallopian tube using an occluding plug comprises: an elongate probe having an outer sheath 120 and inner probe 104; a fluid delivery tube 708; a light source 707 for illuminating a region in front of said distal end of said probe; and a camera 705 for viewing in front of said distal end of said probe. The probe has an outside dimension in the range 7mm or less. The nose portion 702 may be flexible by virtue of spring strip 704. The camera 705 may be an integrated circuit chip at the distal end of the probe. In use, an occlusive plug is connected to the distal end of the device via bayonet coupling 701, the device is navigated into position, the nose portion is extended out of the outer sheath, drive shaft 109 is rotated to insert the plug into the tube, the plug is then disconnected and the device withdrawn.</p> |
