The tool e.g. electrical drilling hammer (1), has a tool holder (2) for holding a chiseling tool on an operating axis (10). A pneumatic hammer mechanism (6) comprises a hammer unit (13) moved on the axis. An exciter (12) is driven by a motor (5) between a tool-far front dead point and a tool-near dead point. A pneumatic chamber (15) couples movement of the exciter to the hammer unit. A damping device comprises a controlled exhaust valve passing air from a blower into the pneumatic chamber, if the exciter is provided in proximity of the tool-far dead point. The exciter and the hammer unit are designed as a cylindrical piston. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a hand-held machine tool. |
