<p>Provided is a piston ring with a thermal spray coating which is excellent in wear resistance and scuffing resistance as well as less damaging to a mating material. The piston ring has a thermal spray coating formed on a sliding surface of the piston ring, the thermal spray coating being formed by thermal spraying of a mixed powder including at least Mo powder, Ni-based self-fluxing alloy powder and Cu and/or Cu alloy powder. The thermal spray coating at least includes 50 to 80 % by mass of Mo, 1 to 12 % by mass of Cu and/or Cu alloy, and a remainder being Ni-based self-fluxing alloy, and the area ratio ofCu and/or Cu alloy phase that appears on the sliding surface is 0.5 to 15%.</p> |
