PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizer which prevents a reflecting surface of a light-collecting means from being brought into contact with sterilizing gas, while sterilizing the reflecting surface by heat. SOLUTION: The sterilizer 2 includes: a conveyor 4, as a conveying means, for carrying a container 1 as an article to the inside of a work chamber C; a halogen lamp 34, as a light-emitting means, for emitting a sterilizing light L to the container; the light-collecting means 35 for collecting the sterilizing light; and an open/close door 6 for making a space S formed inside of the light-collecting means opening or closing. When the container is sterilized, the sterilizing light emitted by the halogen lamp is collected into the container by reflecting on the reflecting surface 35b of the light-collecting means, while the open/close door being opened. When the work chamber is sterilized with the sterilizing gas, the sterilizing light emitted from the halogen lamp is reflected on a reflecting surface 6a of the open/close door, so as to send the sterilizing light L to the reflecting surface of the light-collecting means, while the open/close door being closed.
