<p>The invention provides a commercial transaction system comprising a mobile communications device 10 for use by a merchant, the mobile communications device having a camera or other sensing function, and a server 14 for storing data relating to card details of a customer of the merchant. At a first transaction event involving the customer, a photograph of that customer is taken by the camera function and sent to the server, where it is stored. At a subsequent transaction involving the same card the photograph is retrieved by the mobile communication device and compared by the merchant with the appearance of the customer of this subsequent transaction. If the retrieved photograph is a sufficiently good match to the customers appearance, the merchant proceeds with the transaction.</p> |
