PURPOSE: A device for predicting the number of continuous casting processes in a continuous casting and a method thereof are provided to predict the possible number of continuous casting processes by predicting the clogging of a submerged entry nozzle through the variation of a molten steel surface level of a mold. CONSTITUTION: A device for predicting the number of continuous casting processes in a continuous casting includes a molten steel surface level sensor(110) and a central processing part(150). The molten steel surface level sensor is arranged on top of a mold(30) and periodically measures a molten steel surface level in accordance with the fluctuation of the molten steel surface in the mold. The central processing part collects molten steel surface level values measured at the molten steel surface level sensor, and calculates a molten steel surface hit rate by using the total number of measurement measured during a predetermined unit cycle and the number of abnormality where the molten steel surface level values are out of a predetermined reference range, and then calculates an accumulated hit rate by adding the calculated molten steel surface hit rate to the previous molten steel surface hit rate, and predicts the possible number of continuous casting processes by using the calculated accumulated hit rate.
