The procedure for forming sectors of an air intake lip consists of making a U-section tube (12) with joined edges from a hot pressure extruded cylindrical billet (11) of a suitable material, normally aluminium alloy. The extrusion is made so that it emerges in a curve from the die (15), and is then formed to the required sector shape by hydraulic expansion inside a matrix with an inner volume corresponding to the outer volume of the required sector shape, increased to allow for the elastic return of the expanded material. The tube is then cut to length for the lip sector.
