<p>The invention relates to a method for winding fiber webs, particularly partial paper and board webs, in which method partial web rolls (15) are wound in a winding device that comprises at least two winding stations (20), rider roll units (30) that load a pair of rider rolls (31,32) against the partial web roll (15) to be wound, in which method partial webs (W1, W2) are guided to be wound to partial web rolls (15) around cores (14) via a nip between a winding roll (10) and the partial web rolls (15), in which method the winding position of the partial web rolls (15) to be wound is on the upper circumferential half of the winding roll (10) on the winding stations (20). In the method the rider rolls (31, 32) are moved substantially linearly in direction of the radius of the partial web roll (15) and the partial web rolls (15) are loaded and supported by the rider rolls (31, 32) in direction of the center of the partial web roll (15) from the beginning of the winding until the partial web rolls are wound to the end diameter.
