PURPOSE: A motor monitoring system is provided to derive reference current spectrum data according to the state of a motor which is changed according to loads and driving conditions even in case of the same power and same motor, and compare the derived data with measured motor currents, thereby determining the abnormality of the motor. CONSTITUTION: A current sensor and a voltage sensor are installed according to each phase of a motor which receives alternating current (AC) power. An analog/digital (AD) converter (100) converts voltage, supplied to the motor, and current of the motor measured by the current sensor into data. A fast fourier transform (FFT) converter (110) respectively converts the current and voltage data, converted by the A/D converter, into the spectrum of a frequency domain. A controller (120) provides the FFT-converted current and voltage spectrum of the frequency domain and reference current spectrum data stored in a reference spectrum storage (140) to a high band comparator (150) and a low band comparator (160). The high band comparator and the low band comparator compare the reference current spectrum data with the FFT-converted current spectrum of the frequency domain according to each band, and provide the difference value to the controller.
