METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING KEY INPUT ON A VIRTUAL KEYBOARD AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: A key input recognizing method on a virtual keyboard and a device thereof are provided to recognize key inputs by a user regardless of type or shape of a keyboard by recognizing keys displayed on various types of virtual keyboards, tracking the movement of keys, and recognizing key values. CONSTITUTION: When a movement of a device for inputting a key on a virtual keyboard through a camera (410), a device tracking part tracks the position of the movement of the device until it becomes smaller than or the same as the perpendicular threshold value (450). A key value recognizing part (440) recognizes as the key is inputted. A pattern recognizing part (420), using a pattern recognizing method, recognizes the position according to key patterns of each key on the virtual keyboard. A threshold value initialization part (430) confirms the lowest position of the value as the threshold value where the device is in contact with the surface of the virtual keyboard.
