PURPOSE: A tidal current generating apparatus is provided to fix a tidal current generator to the sea-bed by gravity by filling a ballast tank with sea water at the time of driving and then empty the ballast tank at the time of maintenance, thereby floating the tidal current generator to the surface of the sea by buoyancy. CONSTITUTION: A tidal current generating apparatus includes a support (2), a tidal current generator, and a guide unit (3). The tidal current generator is installed on the upper portion of the support. The guide unit guides the vertical motion of the support. The support includes a ballast tank for supplying and discharging seawater. Seawater is supplied to the ballast tank so as to be fixed to the sea-bed when the tidal current generator is driven. The tidal generator is floated on the surface of seawater by discharging the seawater stored in the ballast tank when the tidal generator is repaired.
