PURPOSE: A power generation apparatus is provided to miniaturize a position detection unit which detects a rotational position of a propeller. CONSTITUTION: A power generation apparatus comprises a speed-increasing gear (12), a generation unit (13), a rotor shaft (170), and a position detector (16). The speed-increasing gear is arranged on the same axis with a propeller shaft to which an input and an output shaft are connected, and combined with the propeller shaft. The generation unit has an input shaft which is arranged on the same axis with the speed-increasing gear. The rotor shaft is arranged on the same axis with the speed-increasing gear and the generation unit.
