An oxidation catalyst composition for diesel engines is provided to suppress the generation of sulfate while sufficiently burning soluble organic fractions in diesel automobiles using high-sulfur fuel. An oxidation catalyst for purifying exhaust gas of diesel engines comprises: a composite support consisted of titania-silica, zeolite and alumino silicate and supported on a flow-through type substrate made from ceramic or metal; and 0.1 to 10 wt.% of at least one platinum group catalyst component, which is selected from platinum(Pt), palladium(Pd), or rhodium(Rh)-based components, and 0.1 to 20 wt.% of a vanadium(V)-based catalyst component that are supported on the composite support. The oxidation catalyst is prepared by supporting a platinum group catalyst component and a vanadium catalyst component on the composite support after wash-coating the substrate with the composite support. The oxidation catalyst is prepared by wash-coating the substrate with a composite support having a platinum group catalyst component and a vanadium catalyst component supported thereon. |
